A 1/2 day STCW Personal Survival Techniques Refresher course required every 5 years as per STCW 2010 Manila Amendment and meeting the requirements laid down in:
Regulation VI/1, paragraph 1 and section A-VI/1, paragraphs 2.1.1 of the STCW Code 1978, as amended.
This course is governed by the IYT on behalf of the Marshall Islands Flag, a flag state of the IMO and accepted by all IMO Flag States including the Red Ensign / MCA. Valid for 5 years from the date of issue, this 1/2 day blended course is one of the mandatory STCW Basic Safety Training Modules required under international maritime law for all seafarers holding a critical safety role onboard.
Our multipurpose, well equipped training facility in Grimsby provides real life experience whilst you train in a realistic environment in the prevailing conditions. Our 1/2 day STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) Refresher course is delivered by approved maritime trainers with a wealth of experience holding the IMO 6.09 Train the Trainer / Training Course for Maritime Instructors qualification.

You will be required to sign a medical declaration confirming that you are fit and able to carry out practical tasks including but not limited to; Life raft entry, water entry, group swimming (aided).
Practical exercises are conducted within the confines of a controlled water training area in Grimsby Fish Dock. The water has been tested for E-Coli and necessary bacteria as per regulations for inland, coastal and brackish waters (2007). Tests are conducted monthly and results are available on request / displayed on site. We are pleased to confirm that our results put us into the ‘excellent category’, which is expected considering the dock water changes twice daily due to tides.
