GWO Sea Survival / Sea Survival Refresher

Our GWO Sea Survival course is aimed at teaching personnel working in the wind industry – or related fields – the basics of survival in dangerous environments. Our clientele are those that work on wind turbines or offshore sites, so we cater our courses to the specific needs of the offshore industry.

Sea Survival courses are primarily delivered at our state-of-the-art training facilities, allowing trainees to get a truly immersive experience that best prepares them for real-world environments. Our world-class instructors are on hand to offer advice and show everyone the ropes, ensuring a timely, informative training session for all attendees. Each of our instructors has experience working on offshore sites, so when you choose CWind Training, you know you’re learning from the professionals! The GWO Sea Survival Refresher module covers the same content, duration and learning objectives as GWO Sea Survival. Training can consist of first-time delegates and refresher delegates in the same classroom.

Summary:

The GWO Sea Survival Course features a classroom session designed to allow individuals to show a good understanding of: legislation associated with sea survival in the UK, exposure, hypothermia, drowning, life-saving appliances, PPE and the transfer process. This will be followed by realistic practical sessions allowing individuals to demonstrate correct personal and team survival techniques.

Theory:

  • Legislation associated with sea survival in the UK
  • Exposure, hypothermia and drowning
  • Life-Saving appliances and PPE
  • The transfer process
  • Man overboard
  • Communication techniques

Practical:

  • Sea survival techniques and man overboard
  • Transfer techniques

Pre-Requisites:

The GWO Sea Survival course can be physically demanding and to participate in the training you must be medically fit and capable of participating fully.

You must provide us with a copy of your valid, current medical certificate as proof of your recent fitness.

Other prerequisites:

  • A valid GWO Working at Height Certificate
  • You must provide a valid photographic ID such as a Passport or Driving Licence
  • You must be 18+
  • This course is run in English and as such you must have an appropriate level of fluency in order to participate.

£340 (VAT excl.) per person

Duration:

1 Day

Equipment required:

  • Swimwear (towel, swimming costume etc.) We have on site changing rooms and showers.
