Advanced Rescue Training (ART)

Advanced Rescue Training  – Combined (ART) is designed to give existing wind farm employees a higher level of rescue capability, with an additional focus on casualty care. Advanced Rescue involves comprehensive rescue equipment orientation and practice at a safe training facility, which will enable participants to perform safe and efficient rescues in the event of an emergency.

Summary:

Training in the advanced use of spinal boards, stretchers, casualty management and lifting and lowering techniques from the turbine using industry specific equipment. The course will prepare individuals for offshore/onshore incident management and how to perform sub-station and WTG rescues in the simplest, safest, most efficient way possible.

  • Perform rescue operations in a wind turbine:
    • Hub, Spinner and inside a Blade
    • Nacelle, tower and basement
    • Single rescuer -Hub, Spinner and inside a Blade
    • Single rescuer -Nacelle, tower and basement
  • Perform rescue operations using safe and suitable (certified or structural) anchor points, lifting angles, deviation, and edge protection for the rescue equipment
  • Perform rescue operations using an injured persons personal fall protection equipment backup system, when required.
  • Perform rescue operations in poor lighting and enclosed spaces

This course will also offer introduction into the environment of a turbine/substation and familiarisation of areas.

Pre-Requisites:

The course can be physically demanding and to fulfil the criteria  you must be medically fit and capable of participating fully.

Other prerequisites:

  • In date GWO Working at Height certificate
  • In date GWO First Aid certificate
  • In date GWO Manual Handling
  • You must provide a valid photographic ID such as a Passport or Driving Licence
  • You must be 18+
  • The course is run in English and as such you must have an appropriate level of fluency in order to participate.

Equipment required:

Clothing – Safety boots plus suitable clothing to climb in – appropriate for external training in all weathers e.g. breathable, warm, waterproof, windproof etc. We also advise kneepads for some of the practical exercises.
